The final version of this page is at: > https://atharkhan.com/glossary/xspouse-software/ XSpouse is a [[Guideline Support Calculator]] used for California child support and temporary spousal support calculations. ## Working notes The child support formula is in [[Cal. Fam. Code § 4055]]. Court-used software must meet the requirements of [[Cal. Fam. Code § 3830]] and [[Cal. Rules of Court, Rule 5.275]]. The linked authority notes contain the complete official text. > [!warning] Temporary versus long-term support > A temporary spousal support formula is not a substitute for the court’s long-term support analysis. Keep the purpose of the calculation clear when reviewing a worksheet or settlement proposal. > [!tip] Reviewing a calculation > Check the income, deductions, parenting-time assumptions, calculation period, and software version. Comparing reports is useful only when the underlying assumptions are understood. [[DissoMaster (Software)|DissoMaster]] is a historical predecessor, discontinued in March 2025. It should not be listed as a current certified alternative. The [Judicial Council certification list](https://courts.ca.gov/programs-initiatives/families-and-children/family-law/ab-1058-child-support-program/guideline-support-calculators) was checked October 23, 2026 and lists XSpouse. Rule 5.275(j) separately addresses the required calculator in Title IV-D cases involving the local child support agency. For the distinction between temporary and long-term support, see the [California Courts guide](https://selfhelp.courts.ca.gov/spousal-support/longterm).
