An "Opposing Party" is the other party involved in a legal dispute. To a [[Petitioner]], the [[Repondent]] is the opposing party. To the [[Respondent]], the [[Petitioner]] is the opposing party. The term "Opposing Party" is typically used to refer to the other side without having to refer to their legal role e.g., as the [[Petitioner]] or [[Respondent]], or to distinguish between the [[Litigants|litigant]] and their [[Attorney|attorney]], i.e., the [[Opposing Counsel]].
