An ex parte hearing is a legal [[Proceedings|proceeding]] in which one [[Party|party]] (referred to as a [[Petitioner|petitioner]] or [[Applicant|applicant]]) presents their case to a judge without the presence or advance [[Notice|notice]] to the other party (the [[Respondent|respondent]] or [[Opposing Party|opposing party]]). The term "[[Ex Parte|ex parte]]" is derived from Latin and means "from one side" or "on behalf of one party." Typically, the ruling in an ex parte hearing is made only based on the moving papers, ie., the ex parte application. You will not have the opportunity to address the court. Meaning, you will not be speaking to the judge.
